Purpose of Compression
The purpose of TITC compression can be categoried by two parts: temporary storage and transmission.
In scenario of frequent data exchange between computing units and temporary storage, TITC compression saves cost of temporary storage, as well as loading of bandwidth.
In scenario of huge data transmit between different computing units, followed by public (or proprietary) compression algorithm, TITC IPs reduce transmission loading.
Category of Compression
Considering categories defined by recovered data (lossless or lossy) and bitstream ratio(fixed ratio or variable ratio), TITC IPs occupy domains of lossy-fixed-ratio and lossless-variable-ratio.
Unlike protocol compression algorithm like JPEG or H.26x, TITC IPs focus more on real-time compress/decompress & hardware deployment friendly, and choose above two domains.
