Hsin Chu, Taiwan – April 10, 2013 –
Taiwan ImagingTek (TITC and TITC-USA) today announced that MagnaChip Semiconductor Corporation ("MagnaChip") (NYSE:
MX), a Korea-based designer and manufacturer of analog and mixed signal semiconductor products, has licensed a near lossless
compression IP for its new lines of display driver chips.
Taking advantage of sharp price drop of the display
panels, smart phone system developers are migrating to Full HD resolution for higher image-video quality. Higher resolution
in display device adds higher cost of frame buffer memory and increases the level of EMI problem due to higher data rate,
enlarged PCB and signal routing.
“Our world top smart phone system partners are demanding a good
solution of reducing memory cost, minimizing the PCB size and easing EMI headache in display panel”, says Dosang Mok,
Senior Vice President of Marketing for MagnaChip’s Display Solutions Division. “TITC’s unique and top quality
compression technology (IP) provides us with the right solution and flexibility of overcoming display panel related issues.
With this IP and efficient support from TITC, we can design new lines of display panel chips and quickly provide our smart
phone partners with less expensive memory chip and eased EMI issues”.
“We are glad to reach
agreement of long-standing IP licensing partnership with MagnaChip, the world top display panel IC supplier. With this agreement,
TITC provides not only top quality compression IP, but also system know-how in reducing data rate of the image signal traveling
from smart phone AP chip to the display device.” Says Mr. Star Sung, the CEO of TITC. “With 7 years mass production
record TITC lossless compression IPs have been reallized in 200M TV systems through German Micronas, Japanese Renesas, Kawasaki/Megachips,
the two world top TV decoder suppliers, Taiwan Novatek, the world top 1 LCD Drivers supplier and Italian Olivetti MFP machines.
We’ll keep investing in lossless compression IPs and providing the best solutions for our world top partners.”
global system and IC suppliers in smart phone, image sensor, DSC/DV, DVD, Set-Top-Box, 3D/Gaming are adopting TITC IPs and
solutions for cutting the power consumption, reducing the memory cost and easing the EMI issues. This agreement with MagnaChip
further demonstrates the prevailing advantage of TITC near Lossless compression technology in the consumer markets.
